Matviyenko hopes Clinton attends Eurasian Women's Forum in St. Petersburg in 2018
MOSCOW. Oct 26 (Interfax) - Former U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton might visit Russia in September 2018 for the Eurasian Women's Forum, Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko said at the first meeting of the forum's organizing committee.
"A key task is to ensure a high level of foreign presence at the forum. I correspond with Hillary Clinton, though not regularly. We invited her last year, but she could not visit us because of the election. She promised she would come to our forum next year. I will stay in touch with her," Matviyenko said.
The forum "needs various women with different views and visions, but all of them should be community leaders and successful women who can share their success stories," she said.
"Feel free to suggest the invitation of any remarkable, interesting women from other countries," Matviyenko said.
Federation Council Vice-Chair Galina Karelova said that the forum's theme will be "Women of the world for global security and sustainable development."
The forum will take place in St. Petersburg on September 20-21, 2018.
