Declarations of intent to impose additional sanctions on Russian defense sector manifest U.S. impotency - Shamanov
MOSCOW. Oct 27 (Interfax) - The United States has declared the possibility of leveling additional sanctions on the Russian defense sector because it is unable of winning a fair competition, State Duma Defense Committee head Vladimir Shamanov told reporters on Friday.
"They feel impotent, so they go all out to make things worse for Russia," Shamanov said.
"Obviously, the competitive edge of our defense sector has exhibited its efficiency to the entire world," he said.
"Even the countries aligned with America-friendly blocs and shadow allies have started buying Russian weapons, primarily air-defense systems," he said.
"Our broadening interaction with ASEAN member countries, bilateral contacts with Afghanistan and Pakistan, and Iran's interest in being an observer at organizations like the SCO and the CSTO prove that we are on the right track and should move forward," Shamanov said.
