Uzbek special services confirm national Saifulla Saipov likely perpetrated New York terror attack
TASHKENT. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan has confirmed that an Uzbek national carried out the New York terrorist attack, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Saifulla Khabibulayevich Saipov was born on February 8, 1988 in Tashkent. He graduated from a professional college in 2005 and studied at the Tashkent Financial Institute in 2005-2009," the statement said.
The Uzbek head of state earlier extended his condolences to United States President Donald Trump over the New York terrorist attack and said that the Uzbek side is ready to employ all of its forces and means to provide assistance in the investigation of the attack.
A terrorist who turned out to be a native of Uzbekistan drove his truck into a bike lane and ran into a school bus in New York on Tuesday. According to the latest information, eight people, including five Argentine nationals, were killed in the incident. More than ten people were injured.
Seifullo Saipov, who has been detained, arrived in the U.S. in 2010, the American media reported.
