Russia boosts fish catch 1.6% to 4 mln tonnes year-to-date

MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Russia's fishing industry boosted its fish catch to 4.1 million tonnes year-to-date, 81,500 tonnes or 1.9% more than in the same period last year, Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency Rosrybolovstvo reported.

In the waters of foreign states, mainly Morocco and Norway, the catch rose by 49,800 tonnes to 391,800 tonnes, while in convention areas and the open waters of the global ocean the catch increased by 35,000 tonnes to 275,400 tonnes.

Rosrybolovstvo has forecast that the catch in 2017 will be level with the previous year. Russian fisherman caught 4.7 million tonnes of fish and other bio-resources in 2016.
