Syrian army fully liberates Deir ez-Zor
DUBAI. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Syrian government forces have completely liberated the city of Deir ez-Zor from militants of the terrorist group ISIL (banned in Russia), Syrian state television reported on Friday.
"The army has announced that it has fully retaken control of the city of Deir ez-Zor," it said.
The television news channel Al Arabiya has also confirmed this information, citing eyewitnesses close to the Syrian opposition.
Some media outlets have reported that terrorists left scores of mines in Deir ez-Zor before retreating.
On Thursday, the Syrian army conducted a series of successful operations against ISIL militants in Deir ez-Zor and regained control over several districts of the city.
ISIL had held most of Deir ez-Zor since 2014.
