Russia begins deliveries of T-90S, T-90SK tanks to Vietnam

BANGKOK. Nov 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has started to deliver T-90S and T-90SK tanks under a contract with Vietnam, Mikhail Petukhov, deputy director of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), told Interfax on the sidelines of the Defense & Security exhibition in Bangkok.

"A contract for the delivery of T-90S and T-90SK tanks was signed a result of a series of negotiations between Russian and Vietnamese experts. The parties have now started to implement it," Petukhov said.

Uralvagonzavod said in its annual public report earlier that a contract with Customer "704" (Vietnam) for the delivery of 64 T-90S and T-90SK tanks should start to be implemented in 2017.

Vietnam is one of Russia's key partners in military-technical cooperation.

Rosoboronexport head Alexander Mikheyev said at the MAKS air show in July that Russia would supply marine hardware and tanks to Vietnam on trust.

Mikheyev said earlier that Vietnam accounts for a considerable amount of deliveries as part of military-technical cooperation. Vietnam's submarine fleet with all the relevant infrastructure has been created thanks to Russia, Mikheyev said.
