Kyiv police classifies incident in Eternal Glory Park as desecration
KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax) - The police have initiated criminal proceedings for desecration of the Eternal Flame in Kyiv; buckets for cement and work gloves were seized from the crime scene.
"The investigative department of the police's Pecherskyi department has initiated criminal proceedings on charges of desecration of a grave, other place of burial or a body of the deceased person. The crime is punishable with imprisonment for up to seven years," the Kyiv police's communication department said.
The police are verifying whether security footage exists.
Policemen seized eight buckets, in which unknown individuals had brought cement, and three pairs of working gloves from the scene of the incident.
As reported, unknown individuals poured cement over the Eternal Flame in Kyiv's Eternal Glory Park in the early hours of Tuesday.
