Gazprom project mgmt department head hospitalized after attack in St. Petersburg
ST. PETERSBURG. Nov 10 (Interfax) - The police have initiated a criminal case following an attack on a Gazprom employee in St. Petersburg's Primorsky district.
"Two unidentified persons beat the 53-year-old Gazprom department head with steel rebar on Bogatyrsky Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on November 9, 2017. The victim was hospitalized with numerous injuries," the press service for the Russian Interior Ministry department for the region said on Friday.
A criminal case on the count of hooliganism was opened on these grounds. The police are identifying the attackers.
"Two unknown individuals beat a man born in 1964, the director of the Gazprom project management department, with steel rebar yesterday evening. The victim was hospitalized with an open head injury and is in grave condition," an informed source told Interfax.
Law enforcement officials are examining security footage from cameras on the adjacent building which could have recorded the attack, the source said.
