Nigerian pirates release crew of ship Demeter, including Ukrainian - Ukraine's Foreign Ministry

KYIV. Nov 13 (Interfax) - Nigerian pirates have released the six members of the crew of the German ship Demeter who were previously abducted, including a Ukrainian man, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's consular service department said.

"The Ukrainian abducted by the pirates and another five members of the crew of the vessel Demeter have been released," the department wrote on Twitter on Monday.

The consular service said the release became possible due to the coordinated actions of the navigation company, security services, and diplomats.

According to earlier reports, pirates abducted six members of the crew of the German ship Demeter in the territorial waters of Nigeria on October 25. According to media reports, four of the abducted people were citizens of the Philippines, and there were also citizens of Ukraine and Hungary.
