Georgian media don't rule out that Chechen ISIL militants in Tbilisi apartment
TBILISI. Nov 22 (Interfax) - Members of ISIL (banned in Russia) may be entrenched in a Tbilisi apartment building, the storming of which began several hours ago, the Georgian newspaper Kviris Palitra website reported on Wednesday.
The suspected militants, who are Chechen natives and presumably illegally arrived in Georgia, are putting up resistance to law-enforcement officers, the website reported. The newspaper did not specify the source of this information.
Georgian law enforcement has only confirmed the detention of one suspect.
According to preliminary information, militants who opened fire on special-forces officers are not Georgian citizens and are suspected of being members of the terrorist organization, the Georgian State Security Service told reporters earlier.
