Rosprombank President Salogubov arrested on fraud charges until at least Dec 18 - court
MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax) - Moscow's Basmanny District Court arrested Rosprombank President Sergei Salogubov in October on suspicion of embezzling over 750 million rubles' worth of the bank's assets, court spokeswoman Yunona Tsaryova told Interfax on Wednesday.
"Under a ruling dated October 20, Salogubov was taken into custody until December 18," Tsaryova said.
Salogubov's defense has appealed the ruling, she said. The Moscow City Court is to hear the appeal on Wednesday.
The defense asked the Moscow City Court to overturn Salogubov's arrest and replace it with a milder pretrial restriction measure.
Russian Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said earlier on Wednesday that Salogubov has been charged with fraudulent schemes involving real estate in the Moscow region, which caused Rosprombank 756 million rubles' worth of damage.
Rosprombank's license was annulled in September 2016.
