Russian sports officials' main task is to protect Russian athletes' interests using all possible means - Peskov

MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - The main task of Russian sports officials is to protect Russian athletes disqualified by the International Olympic Committee for life using all possible means, the Kremlin said.

"We disagree with such decisions. But what counts most is that we continue our quite energetic, active, substantive and systematic work to protect the interests of our athletes. This is what we see as our sports officials' primary task," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, adding that "all possible means" should be used in these efforts.

When asked about the Kremlin's reaction to some Russian athletes' life disqualification, Peskov said: "You know our attitude to all of these decisions. First and foremost, they are unsubstantiated, and we disagree with such decisions."
