At least 8 satellites to be launched from Vostochny on contract with OneWeb - Roscosmos head
VOSTOCHNY COSMODROME. Nov 29 (Interfax) - The Roscosmos state corporation is planning to launch several satellites on contract with OneWeb from the Vostochny cosmodrome beginning in 2019, Roscosmos head Igor Komarov told reporters on Wednesday.
"We expect to begin space launches within the contract with OneWeb in 2019. At least eight of those launches will be carried out from Vostochny," Komarov said.
The number of space launches from Vostochny may grow next year, Komarov said.
"We have at least two launches planned for 2018," he said.
Arianspace and OneWeb said they had signed a contract in London to launch OneWeb mobile satellite communication satellites via 21 Soyuz rockets between 2017 and 2019. At least 15 of those Soyuz rockets will blast off from Baikonur and Russian cosmodromes.
