Russia will continue to respond to U.S. unfriendly steps, itself won't seek confrontation - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Russia will not seek any confrontation with the United States, but will follow the principle of reciprocity in responding to unfriendly steps, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with the Italian newspaper Libero published on Thursday.

"In other words, we will continue to act pragmatically, without seeking confrontation," he said.

"At the same time, we will certainly continue to respond to any unfriendly steps in line with the principle of reciprocity," he said.

Hopefully, "common sense will return to Washington's corridors of power" in the foreseeable future," he said.
