Iranian-Russian counterterror work in Syria productive - Tehran

MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has given high marks to Iranian-Russian cooperation in Syria.

"Good headway has been made in our cooperation in Syria on counterterrorism, and we see very important achievements both for your country and our country on counterterrorism [in Syria]," he said during a meeting with Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

Larijani said the role of the United States in Syria is not obvious to Iran.

"We are suspicious of the role of the United States in Syria. They are present in some parts of this country, create military bases there, and generally engage in reckless schemes," Larijani said.

In this connection, he spoke about the importance of "increasing cooperation between Russia and Iran."
