Gazprom sets up metrology department

MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Gazprom added a new division to its administration in October, Department 342, the Russian gas giant said.

This is a new department, so its responsibilities have not been disclosed. Its number starts with three, which indicates it is overseen by deputy CEO for production Vitaly Markelov.

However, the career path of the department head, Vladimir Gertsog, indicates that the new department handles metrology issues. Gertsog, born in Uzbekistan in 1970, graduated from the Gubkin State Oil and Gas Academy with a degree in automation and telemechanics.

Gertsog worked at Gazprom Transgaz Moskva from 1993 to 2007, starting as an engineer and working his way up to chief metrologist of the metrology and gas metering department. For the next ten years he was director of automated gas metering and metrology and chief metrologist at Gazprom Mezhregiongaz.

In 2016, Gertsog was appointed deputy head of Gazprom's Department 310, the central production and dispatch department, and became head of Department 342 in October.
