Saakashvili receives $500,000 from Russia - Ukrainian prosecutor general
KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Leader of the Movement of New Forces party and former head of the Odesa regional state administration Mikheil Saakashvili has received $500,000 for his activities in Ukraine from businessman Serhiy Kurchenko, who is a fugitive in Russia, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said.
"Ukrainian citizen Severion Dengadze, in agreement with Saakashvili, turned via a confidant to Serhiy Kurchenko, who has fled from prosecution ... on the issue of stable financing for Saakashvili's activities in exchange for the interests of the members of the organized criminal group. We recorded a $500,000 receipt of funds from the Russian side for Saakashvili," he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
