Russian plan for Korean crisis settlement sole sound alternative to crisis scenarios - Russian Embassy in Pyongyang
MOSCOW. Dec 6 (Interfax) - Russia's step-by-step plan for settling the Korean crisis is the only sound alternative to a crisis scenario, Russia's Ambassador to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Alexander Matsegora, told UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman, who is visiting Pyongyang.
He was asked by Feltman to share the Russian Foreign Ministry's assessment of the current situation on the peninsula.
"The guest was also briefed in more detail, in the local context, on Russia's step-by-step plan for a Korean settlement. Matsegora stressed that essentially, this plan is the only reasonable alternative to crisis scenarios in subsequent developments," the Russian embassy in the DPRK wrote in a statement on Facebook after the meeting.
Matsegora and Feltman called for swift resumption of the talks and stressed that attempts to resolve the peninsula's nuclear and other problems militarily are unacceptable, the statement said.
The atmosphere of the meeting was candid and businesslike, it said.
