Supporters of Tymoshenko, Socialist Party holding rallies near Rada in Kyiv
KYIV. Dec 7 (Interfax) - The situation is quiet outside the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv on Thursday morning, and there are not very many people in the tent camp set up by supporters of Movement of New Forces leader Mikheil Saakashvili.
At the same time, supporters of the Batkivshchyna party have come to Constitution Square near the Verkhovna Rada holding the party's symbols, an Interfax correspondent reported. There were around 500 people on Constitution Square as of 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, and more are arriving.
Demonstrators chant "No to the Sale of Land" from time to time.
Meanwhile, Socialist Party supporters are holding a rally from the direction of Hrushevsky Street. They have blocked vehicle traffic at an intersection of Shovkovychna Street and Hrushevsky Street.
Security at the Verkhovna Rada is tighter than it was in recent days, with five to six rows of policemen and National Guard servicemen now placed along the perimeter of the building.
