Russian fighter jets scrambled five times in past week to intercept foreign recon planes - Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian air defense force fighter jets have been scrambled five times in the past week to intercept foreign reconnaissance airplanes, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Twenty-four foreign aircraft on reconnaissance missions have been seen near the Russian borders over the past week, the Russian Defense Ministry said in an infographic report in the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda.
"Violations of Russian airspace were not allowed [to happen]," it said.
