State Duma drafting statement to urge WADA to restore accreditation of Russian Anti-Doping Agency

MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax) - The State Duma intends to make a statement on Friday regarding the International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s decision to bar the Russian national team from the PyeongChang Games.

"We take notice of the conclusions drawn by the International Olympic Committee's Disciplinary Commission, which said that Russia had no state-run system supporting the use of doping by athletes, and believe that the World Anti-Doping Agency should restore the accreditation of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency," the draft statement said.

It calls for "putting an end to various sorts of baseless accusations against Russian athletes and to political interference in sports."

"There should be no politics in sports," the statement said.
