Iraq thanks Russia for support against terror
MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - Iraq is regaining control on the border with Syria and is grateful to Russia for support in countering terrorism, Iraqi Ambassador to Russia Haidar Mansour Hadi said.
"The most important event is that the total victory over terrorism in Iraq has been achieved and that it's final. We are currently regaining complete control over the situation on the border with Syria," he said at a meeting with the Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Foreign Affairs Committee, Konstantin Kosachyov.
"We are very grateful for the contribution and support provided by Russia, especially through the coordination center, which provided valuable information," Hadi said.
"Other countries' armed forces contributed to this victory as well, we should acknowledge and state that," he said.
Baghdad is ready to continue the fight against terrorism together with Moscow, Hadi said.
"We are ready fight terrorism together with Moscow," he said, adding that he expects Iraqi-Russian relations to reach a new level in the near future.
