Attempts to solve Korean problem by military methods will lead to disaster - Lavrov
MOSCOW. Dec 15 (Interfax) - Attempts to provoke a military scenario on the Korean Peninsula will lead to a catastrophe, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"The situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula is increasingly alarming. There is no alternative to a gradual easing of tensions and a transition to negotiations," he said in the Federation Council.
"Attempts to provoke a military scenario in the hope of resolving the crisis by force will lead to a catastrophe," Lavrov said.
Many studies analyzing the consequences of a military scenario on the Korean Peninsula have been conducted in the West, he said.
"There are plenty of assessments on this topic, including in the Western political establishment," Lavrov said.
