Resident of Dagestan gets 8 year prison term for financing ISIL

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Dec 18 (Interfax) - The Northern Caucasus District Military Court has convicted Ramazan Abdulkhalikov, a resident of Dagestan, of financing an international terrorist organization, court representative Alyona Katkalo told Interfax.

"The court found Ramazan Abdulkhalikov guilty and sentenced him to eight years in a general-security penal colony for a crime under Part 1 of Article 205.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (abetting terrorism)," Katkalo said.

The man, who has radical religious views, agreed to provide financial support to ISIL (terrorist organization banned in Russia), she said.

"The convict transferred some 160,000 rubles via non-cash payment systems in June-October 2014. The money was cashed in various cities of Turkey," the court official said.

The man had denied his guilt during the trial.
