U.S. instructors to start training Georgian military in spring

TBILISI. Dec 20 (Interfax) - The training of Georgian servicemen within the framework of a new program with the United States will begin in May 2018, Georgian Defense Minister Levan Izoria said at parliamentary hearings on Wednesday.

"Next year, we are launching the Georgian Defense Readiness Program together with the United States. It is the most ambitious program of those that we have carried out so far with our main strategic partner," Izoria said, adding that the program does not have precedents.

He said that the construction of a combat-training center through the program began this year and will end in 2018, while the training of servicemen will begin in May and last for three years.
