Putin's press conference, pullout from Syria are last month's events best remembered by Russians - poll
MOSCOW. Dec 22 (Interfax) - The yearly press conference of President Vladimir Putin (23%) and the Russian contingent's pullout from Syria (18%) are the events of the past four weeks best remembered by Russians, the Levada Analytical Center told Interfax.
Twelve percent of the respondents mentioned the doping scandal and the decision to bar Russian athletes from the Olympic Games.
Six percent mentioned the events in Ukraine, and 5% recalled the death and sickness of celebrated actors, and Putin's decision to run for re-election.
Four percent recalled the sentencing of former Economic Minister Alexei Ulyukayev, and 3% mentioned TV personality Ksenia Sobchak's decision to run for president, the ongoing rise of prices and fees, and the impoverishment of the population.
The sociologists polled 1,600 persons older than 18 in 137 populated localities in 48 regions on December 15-20.
