Putin: Russia should be one of leaders, and in some areas, absolute leader in army development
BALASHIKHA (Moscow region). Dec 22 (Interfax) - The Russian army should take global leadership positions, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an extended meeting of the Defense Ministry's board.
"Russia should be among the leading states, and in some areas, the absolute leader in the development of the next-generation army, the army of the era of a new technological paradigm," Putin said.
He said that consistent work to develop the Armed Forces needs to continue.
"We see that the world is experiencing a real revolution in economics, technology, and knowledge. It is obvious that such deep transformations will affect, must affect the military sphere, the condition of the armies of the leading countries of the world," Putin said.
These tendencies need to be taken into account in military planning and development, he said.
