Bashkortostan, BPGC to invest 2.5-3 bln rubles in grid development

MOSCOW. Dec 25 (Interfax) - Bashkortostan will team up with Bashkir Power Grid Company (BPGC) to expand the grid with 2.5 billion-3 billion rubles in investment, Bashkortostan head Rustem Khamitov told reporters on the sidelines of the United Russia party congress on Saturday.

"We are proposing construction of new grids in the southern portion of the internal republic, in the southeastern portion, in the Trans-Ural area. The investment will be made using funds that are replenished from power sector operations. The resources will be taken from there. BPGC is interested in construction. In addition, wherever there is a shortfall, the republic will help," Khamitov said.

The grid is being extended to Trans-Ural due to construction of industrial facilities worth $200 million-$300 million that will be reliable consumers of electricity in that area, he said.
