Van breaks into Russia from Finland, customs officer hurt

ST. PETERSBURG. Dec 27 (Interfax) - A van carrying unknown persons has broken through the Torfyanovka checkpoint on the Russian-Finnish border, a customs officer has been hurt, a spokesman for the Northwestern Customs Department told Interfax on Wednesday.

"That happened after border control. People traveling by the van crossed into Russia from the checkpoint without going through a customs check. A customs officer was hurt in the incident," the source said.

The injuries suffered by the customs officer are minor. The possible possession of weapons by the van passengers is being verified, he said.
