Police ID violators of Russian-Finnish border
ST. PTERSBURG. Dec 27 Interfax) - The citizens who forced their way from Finland into Russia at a customs control point have been identified and a search for them is underway, the press service for the Interior Ministry's Main Directorate for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region said on Wednesday.
"The police received a report from customs service officials stating that the driver and a passenger pushed a customs official who was inspecting the vehicle out of the vehicle at 2:40 a.m. and left, knocking down a barrier bar," the press service said.
The police are looking for the border violators. 'Some time later, their vehicle was found abandoned in the settlement of Torfyanovka. The border violators have been identified. Criminal investigate officers are now working on locating them for the purpose of their subsequent detention," the press service said.
The incident was earlier reported by the Northwestern customs directorate.
