Armed man takes 11 people hostage in Kharkiv post office

KHARKIV. Dec 30 (Interfax) - An armed man wearing a mask has seized a post office near the Kyivska metro station in Kharkiv, taking nine adults and two children hostage, regional national police head Oleh Bekh told Interfax.

"Nine adults and two children are [being held hostage] there. For now, there are no demands that we understand. He hasn't demanded anything. At this point, we are trying to contact him," Bekh told Interfax on Saturday.

Traffic is restricted as roads are blocked around the scene, Bekh said.

It was reported earlier on Saturday that an armed man wearing a mask had entered a post office near the Kyivska metro station in Kharkiv and barricaded himself in there. Police has arrived at the scene.
