Peskov: Renaming square in Washington for Nemtsov is prerogative of local authorities

MOSCOW. Jan 10 (Interfax) - The renaming of a square in front of the Russian embassy in the United States in Washington, D.C. in commemoration of Russian politician Boris Nemtsov is the prerogative of the city's government, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"I would leave this without comment, and I would only stress that this is certainly the prerogative of the city authorities, against the background of the fact that the condition of bilateral relations between our countries still leaves much to be desired, to put it mildly," Peskov said to journalists on Wednesday when asked to comment on the decision by the city to rename the square in front of the Russian embassy in commemoration of Nemtsov.
