Real effective ruble exchange rate up 0.3% in Dec, down 0.9% in 2017 - Central Bank
MOSCOW. Jan 12 (Interfax) - The ruble's real effective exchange rate against the basket of currencies of Russia's main trading partners rose 0.3% in December compared with November, the Central Bank said in a preliminary estimate published on its website.
The real effective exchange rate weakened 0.9% in 2017.
In 2016, the rubles real effective exchange rate rose 20.4% after growing 0.9% in 2015 and declining 27.4% in 2014.
The ruble gained 1.0% against the U.S. dollar and was unchanged against the euro in December 2017 and rose 6.5% against the dollar and fell 4.2% against the euro in 2017.
The average nominal dollar rate was 58.33 rubles/$1 in 2017, 66.90 rubles/$1 in 2016, 60.66 rubles/$1 in 2015, 37.97 rubles/$1 in 2014, 31.82 rubles/$1 in 2013, 31.07 rubles/$1 in 2012 and 29.35 rubles/$1 in 2011.
The average nominal euro rate was 65.78 rubles/EUR1 in 2017, 74.06 rubles/EUR1 in 2016, 67.43 rubles/EUR1 in 2015, 50.46 rubles/EUR1 in 2014, 42.27 rubles/EUR1 in 2013, 39.94 rubles/EUR1 in 2012 and 40.87 rubles/EUR1 in 2011.
