Chance of Netanyahu-Abbas meeting almost nil - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Jan 15 (Interfax) - The chances that a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas can be arranged are currently next to nothing, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"We were willing to welcome them [Netanyahu and Abbas] to Russian territory and allot our territory to them for this purpose, but no such direct contact - I'd stress without preconditions - has taken place, and I believe the chances for this in the current situation are next to nothing, which is sad," Lavrov said at a press conference devoted to a review of 2017 on Monday.

"I've been hearing for the past several months that the United States is going to publicize some major deal that would settle all problems and satisfy everyone. We haven't seen or heard about such a document, or even a statement," he said.
