MTS acquires cybersports business

MOSCOW. Jan 16 (Interfax) - MTS , Russia's leading mobile service provider, has acquired Praliss Enterprises, which manages cybersports club Gambit Esports, the company reported.

MTS said the entry into the cybersports market is consistent with its strategy of developing areas of business beyond the bounds of traditional telecoms.

Gambit Esports includes 16 players on four teams that compete in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, League of Legends and FIFA. They have repeatedly won world and European championships.

MTS's strategy on the cybersports market will be focused on marketing, as well as developing products for gamers. The company has set up a cybersports division at its innovation center.
