Tests of fifth-generation fighter with new engine to last for about 3 years - minister

MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Test flights of the Sukhoi Su-57 (PAK FA) fifth-generation fighter jet powered by a new engine will last for about three years, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told Interfax.

"The trials of the [PAK FA] second-stage engine may last for about three years," Manturov said.

The Industry and Trade Ministry said on December 5 that the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jet had performed its first flight with the second-stage engine. The flight was normal and lasted for 17 minutes, the ministry said.
