There are no real grounds for moving Donbas talks from Minsk to another venue - Contact Group source

MOSCOW. Jan 19 (Interfax) - The Minsk-based Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine is not considering a possibility of relocating Donbas settlement talks to another venue, a south with Contact Group told Interfax.

"The Contact Group is continuing to work on the Minsk platform, albeit not without difficulties. The issue of transferring the talks to other venues has been initiated more than once, but there are no real grounds for doing so, and, consequently, no concrete steps are being taken to change the talks' venue," he said.

Minsk is expected to host another four meetings of the Trilateral Contact Group in the first quarter of 2018 and another meeting in April, the source said.

"According to a tentative schedule, these meetings have been scheduled for January 31, February 14, February 28, March 14, and April 4. They will be held in Minsk. There is no real discussion on changing the venue," the source said.

Earlier Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that U.S. President Donald Trump had suggested relocating the talks on settling the conflict in Ukraine from the Belarusian capital Minsk to another venue.
