Dep Russian Energy Minister Cherezov included on U.S. sanctions list - OFAC
MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Deputy Russian Energy Minister Andrei Cherezov has been included on the U.S. sanctions list published by the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on Friday.
Also on the list are Yevgeny Grabchak, a head of department at the Energy Ministry; and Sergei Topor-Gilka, head of Techmnopromexport.
Energy companies to be included directly on the sanctions list include CJSC VO Technopromexport and Power Machines.
Topor-Gilka, Cherezov, Grabchak and Technopromexport are also on an EU sanctions list, the reason being the delivery of Siemens gas turbines to Crimea. Power Machines has not featured on any sanctions lists, but it does have the joint venture Siemens Gas Turbines Technologies LLC in which it owns 65% and Siemens owns 35% and which made four turbines meant to be installed at a power plant on the Taman Peninsula but which Siemens said in July were delivered to Crimea instead. Siemens demanded that the turbines be returned and took Technopromexport to court. The Russian side maintains that the equipment was modernized.
