Russian sports minister wants statement from Oswald, Schmid on CAS decision
MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax) - Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov considers it important for Denis Oswald and Samuel Schmid, the heads of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) commissions investigating doping by Russian athletes, to make statements regarding the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)'s decision on Thursday to clear 28 Russian athletes of charges.
"It would be good if Schmid and Oswald made a statement. Their reaction is important," Kolobkov told journalists on Thursday when asked whether Russia expected apologies from Schmid and Oswald.
As for statements made by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) informer Grigory Rodchenkov, Russia has gotten accustomed to them, Kolobkov said. "He disagreed with the court's decision. We're used to that. He makes unfounded statements," he said.
