Citizens of Georgia not to have problems attending World Cup - Abashidze
TBILISI. Feb 1 (Interfax) - Citizens of Georgia who have tickets and fan IDs will have no problem attending the FIFA World Cup in Russia, Zurab Abashidze, the Georgian prime minister's special envoy for relations with Russia, said after meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin in Prague on Wednesday.
"We asked what the visa situation will be during the World Cup. It was stated that acquiring a fan ID automatically leads to certain procedures, which will be basis for entering Russia," Abashidze told reporters.
Citizens of Georgia will only be required to undergo automatic registration and contact the Russian Federation Interests Section at the Embassy of Switzerland in Tbilisi to get permission for the trip after they get fan IDs, Abashidze said.
