Farms increase poultry output 7.6% in 2017 - Rosstat
MOSCOW. Feb 7 (Interfax) - The poultry industry led growth on Russia's meat market in 2017.
The poultry production at agricultural organizations increased 7.6% in 2017, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said, accelerating from 2.7% growth in 2016.
Pig production rose 7.4% last year with cattle farming up 1.3%.
Production of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) increased 6.9% at agricultural organizations.
Agricultural organizations accounted for 74.3% of livestock and poultry production in 2017, up from 72.3% in 2016. Household farms accounted for 22.2% of output and private farms - 3.5%.
Poultry production was up 5.4% year-on-year in December 2017 to 543,700 tonnes; pigs - 13.3% to 372,300 tonnes and cattle - 3.1% to 106,000 tonnes. Production of livestock and poultry combined rose 7.6% to 1.038 million tonnes.
