U.S. military flights along Russian borders take place with transponders off - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - Combat aircraft of the United States are conducting flights along the Russian border with their transponders off, Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
"U.S. combat aviation also prefers to fly near the Russian border with transponders off, despite our initiative to resolve this issue on a mutually acceptable basis," she said at a briefing.
Russia "is actively supporting the inclusion in the bilateral agreement on the prevention of incidents at sea and in the air of provisions on the shortest acceptable distances," Zakharova said.
"Our U.S. colleagues, who like to complain so much about interceptions, for some reason currently don't want to discuss additional flight and navigation safety rules," she said.
