Azerbaijan to set up theology institute
BAKU. Feb 9 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a directive on setting up a theology institute on Friday.
The directive, available on the presidential website, says the theology institute will be subordinated to the State Committee on Work with Religious Institutions and will be part of the Baku State University structure.
The main purpose of the theology institute's establishment is "training highly qualified specialists in the religious activity field."
The directive instructs the State Committee on Work with Religious Institutions to endorse the institute's charter within two months. The Cabinet of Ministers has been given two months to allot a building for the institute and settle all issues related to its funding and technical support.
