Russians expect athletes' success in Olympic Games - poll
MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax) - Most Russians believe that Russian athletes will be successful in the Olympic Games 2018, and 22% expect the athletes to lead in the final medal count, the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) said.
In a nationwide phone interview of 2,000 respondents on February 2 and 3, 34% said that they think that Russian athletes will come second or third in the medal tally, while 15% expect fourth place, VCIOM said.
Fourteen percent do not think that Russian athletes will make it to the top 5 in the final medal count, and 15% are undecided.
Respondents named the United States (26%) and China (15%) as other possible winners. Five percent mentioned Norway and Germany.
Thirty-six percent of the respondents were undecided.
