Govt to assess proposed private military companies' legislation by March, bill to be submitted to Duma - MP Yemelyanov
MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax) - The government is due to prepare its opinion on the bill regulating the activity of private military companies by early March, and the bill will be submitted to the State Duma afterwards, a bill co-author and First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation, Mikhail Yemelyanov, told Interfax.
The deadline is set by the norms regulating the government's response to bills submitted to the State Duma, he said.
"We submitted the bill for the government's consideration in early February consistent with our rules, and we are waiting for their answer; the rules say that an answer should be given within a month, but they often neglect those deadlines. We will be waiting until March and submit the bill to the State Duma," Yemelyanov said.
A group of A Just Russia deputies elaborated the bill regulating the activity of private military companies in Russia. The bill allows for establishing companies of the kind under the Russian jurisdiction. For now, Russian private military companies have to be registered under foreign jurisdictions, the bill's authors said.
