Putin offers condolences to Queen of Denmark on Prince Consort Henrik's death
MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed condolences to Queen Margrethe II of Denmark following the demise of her husband, Prince Consort Henrik, the Kremlin's website said on Wednesday.
"I sincerely share your grief. I wish you and all members of the Danish royal family strength and courage at this difficult time," the president said in his telegram of condolences.
Prince Consort Henrik died at the age of 83 early on Wednesday.
According to the Associated Press, the prince died in his sleep, in the presence of the queen and his two sons.
In January, the prince consort was hospitalized after being diagnosed with lung cancer. On Tuesday, he was discharged to spend his last days at home, the Danish royal palace said.
