Duma ratifies friendship treaty with Honduras

MOSCOW. Feb 21 (Interfax) - The State Duma ratified the Treaty on the Fundamentals of Relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Honduras on Wednesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had submitted the treaty for the State Duma's consideration.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov presented the document and said that it embraced practically every promising area and form of bilateral cooperation.

"Economic relations have been steadily developing, including in areas untraditional for our activity in Latin America, such as comprehensive security," Ryabkov said.

Three hundred citizens of Honduras have been trained in Russia in recent years, he said.

Cooperation between Russia and Honduras "has been on the rise," Ryabkov said.

The treaty was signed in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, on February 28, 2017.
