Son of ex-Kyrgyz ambassador, his friend detained in U.S. on counts of smuggling arms into Chechnya - media
BISHKEK. March 1 (Interfax) - Bishkek is verifying the alleged detention of two Kyrgyz citizens in the United States on counts of smuggling arms into Chechnya, a spokesman for the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry told Interfax on Thursday.
"The Foreign Ministry is verifying information regarding two Kyrgyz citizens who have been allegedly detained in the United States for smuggling arms into Chechnya," the ministry spokesman said.
The local media said on Thursday citing the U.S. website wjla.com that Kyrgyz citizens Tengiz Sydykov and Eldar Rezvanov were taken into custody in Virginia on counts of illegal arms trade, contraband, and some other offenses.
