None of civilians managed to leave E. Ghouta during 6th humanitarian pause - Russian Defense Ministry
HMEIMIM. March 5 (Interfax-AVN) - None of civilians managed to leave Eastern Ghouta during the sixth humanitarian pause because of the ongoing attacks by militants, the head of the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria, Maj. Gen. Yury Yevtushenko, said on Sunday.
"Despite the measures taken today, none of civilians managed to leave the enclave again. Armed units blocked exits from the area. The safe passage to the checkpoint in Muhayam al-Wafedin and the checkpoint itself are under constant small-arms fire of the militants," Yevtushenko said.
The checkpoint, the first-aid station, and the camp for temporary accommodation of civilians leaving the dangerous zone have been deployed and stand ready, he said.
Eastern Ghouta residents are being informed about routes and rules of safe travel through the humanitarian passage, Yevtushenko said.
