Sobchak suggests creating independent venue for presidential candidates' debates of

MOSCOW. March 5 (Interfax) - Presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak intends to create an independent venue where candidates could have debates one on one.

"Today we are beginning to prepare proposals on an independent venue, which we will offer to all candidates, where I will invite all media registered in the Central Elections Commission," Sobchak told reporters following a meeting in the CEC on the debate format.

"I suggest using this independent venue for organizing one on one debates, as it should be, with the candidates that wish to participate in it," she said.

Sobchak earlier asked the CEC to change the format of debate for Russian presidential candidates. She said the existing format, in which dialogue between candidates is prohibited, does not allow voters to make their choice. She said following a meeting in the CEC that she had failed to reach an agreement on the format change.
